Hola chingonas,
This week, I want to share a transformation I’m experiencing – one that’s been a long time coming. For the first time in my life, I no longer truly care what people think of me. Some may think, "Well, you’ve always been like that," and yes, there were pieces of me that didn’t care. But now, I fully believe it in body and soul. I’m finally breaking free from my pattern of people-pleasing. Growing up, especially in a super religious environment, I was taught to keep the peace at all costs, stay quiet to avoid conflict, and tiptoe around people’s opinions, terrified they might not like me. Sound familiar? For many of us, these expectations become habits, and we don’t realize how they manifest in our bodies.
Recently, I shared a video that sparked a lot of reactions – not all of them positive. At first, the criticism and unkind comments made me want to shrink back. Even discriminatory terms were used, like “La Torta,” aimed at my appearance, which reminded me of the fatphobia that sadly still lingers in our community.
But instead of letting the negativity consume me, I sat in my feelings. I realized I didn’t need everyone’s approval because I stand by my opinions, and that’s enough. And to all those who might call me a “torta,” here’s my response: Esta torta es más chingona que cualquier comentario. 💁♀️❤️
This experience became an opportunity to create something beautiful and empowering. I turned those hurtful words into an illustration, a reminder that authenticity is the most delicious thing we can offer the world. Here’s to every unapologetic mujer out there – let’s own who we are, flaws and all. Porque ser auténtica es lo más delicioso que hay.
Going viral isn't all it's cut out to be, especially in our cultura, where people love to comment on every detail, from body image to personal choices. And while those opinions used to keep me up at night, I’m learning to let them go and surrender to the fact that I don’t have control over what others think of me. To my fellow mujeres who’ve had to battle with accepting themselves, remember: being yourself is already enough, and there’s so much strength in standing by who you are.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’m excited to keep creating art that uplifts our community and celebrates our diverse beauty. And if you’re ready to bring a little more self-love into your life, check out my latest collection.
