Finding Joy in Small Things and New Traditions
Healing Your Inner Niña with a Touch of Holiday Magic
Hola, chingona!

Last week, I shared about starting new traditions, and this week, I’m thrilled to tell you about one that has truly healed a little part of me. Let me take you on a trip down memory lane…
El año pasado, I bought my very first snow globe. I was so excited! Pero no me lo quedé. Instead, I gifted it to my nephew, and watching his little face light up made my heart so full. This year, I knew it was time to find one—¡y lo encontré!

As a kid, I always dreamed of having a snow globe. Pero creciendo como Testigo de Jehová, Christmas wasn’t something we celebrated. Snow globes, Christmas trees, and Christmas light were forbidden treasures—so beautiful yet out of reach. For years, I felt left out, like I wasn’t allowed to enjoy those magical little things that bring so much joy.
Fast forward to ahora, and I’ve been on a journey of healing my inner niña. Poco a poco, I’ve embraced what once felt off-limits. Decorating my home for Christmas has become a love letter to my younger self. But getting my own snow globe this year? This one hit differently.
When I look at it, I’m reminded of the little girl I was, all the sueños she had, and how far I’ve come. It’s like a tiny mundo in my hands, a happy place where everything sparkles and feels safe. It’s also a reminder: I deserve joy. My inner niña deserves joy. Y adivina qué? So do you, mija.
I’m even considering keeping my snow globe out all year long porque, ¿por qué no? Joy shouldn’t have an expiration date. And now, this tradición is something I share with my nephew. He has a snow globe on the way for Navidad, and I can’t wait to see his face light up again. This, to me, is what Christmas is all about—creating moments that matter and sharing them with the personas you love.
Tips to Heal Your Inner Niña
Give yourself what you longed for as a child. Whether it’s a snow globe, una bici, or even a box of crayons, indulge that little part of you still waiting for it.
Create traditions that make YOU happy. Forget the rules or what you “should” be doing. Tu vida, tus tradiciones.
Surround yourself with joy. Decorate your espacio, play your favorite canciones, or watch movies that evoke the feeling. Whatever lights you up, do more of that.
Write a letter to your younger self. Tell her what she’s overcome and how proud you are of her. Trust me, it’s a game-changer.
