This 4th of July, there’s not a lot to celebrate.

The real stars are those who rise, even when the system tries to silence them.

Hello chingona,

This 4th of July, there’s not a lot to celebrate. Because the latest bill passed is a direct attack on our communities.

Usually, this day is about “freedom.” But what does that mean when the very people who built this country immigrants are constantly targeted, detained, and dehumanized?

Last week, Trump-backed legislators passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill”—a sweeping, dangerous law that makes it even harder to survive in this country if you're undocumented, poor, or simply part of a marginalized community.

This bill:

  • Expands ICE enforcement and detention centers

  • Slashes Medicaid and SNAP (food assistance), stripping away basic support from families already struggling

  • Seeks to end birthright citizenship, a fundamental protection for immigrant families

  • Gives billions to militarize the border instead of investing in healing, housing, or healthcare

So no, I’m not celebrating the 4th of July for its so-called freedom.

Yes, many of us are lucky to be in our homes, grilling, going to the beach, and spending time with loved ones. But we can’t ignore the fact that so many are being criminalized, caged, and stripped of their rights.

Tomorrow, I choose to celebrate:

✨ The courage of those who speak out
✨ The strength of those who fight back
✨ The love we show each other through community, resistance, and cultura

And I’m putting action behind these words.

This month, 25% of all sales from my Beginner Canva and Beginner Illustrator classes will be donated to organizations supporting immigrants.
